How to Wear a Bra Correctly

Wearing a bra correctly can make a huge difference in comfort, posture, and support. Many women wear the wrong size or style without realizing it! Follow this simple guide to make sure you're getting the best fit every time.

👗 Step 1: Start on the Loosest Hook

Always fasten your bra on the loosest hook when it's new. As the bra stretches over time with washing and wear, you can move to tighter hooks to maintain the right fit.

🤲 Step 2: Lean Forward & Scoop

Lean forward slightly and use your hands to gently scoop your breast tissue into the cups. This ensures all tissue is properly contained and supported — not spilling out the sides or top.

📍 Step 3: Position the Band

The band should sit horizontally across your back, parallel to the ground. It should feel snug but comfortable — you should be able to slide two fingers underneath. If the band rides up at the back, it's too loose.

🧵 Step 4: Adjust the Straps

Straps should lie flat on your shoulders without digging in or slipping off. They should provide about 20% of your support — the band does the rest. If straps are doing all the work, your band size may be too large.

❤️ Step 5: Check the Center Gore

The center piece between the cups (called the gore) should lie flat against your sternum. If it's floating away from your body, your cup size may be too small.

✅ Signs You're Wearing the Right Bra

  • The band feels snug but not tight
  • Cups are smooth with no spillage or gaps
  • Straps stay in place without digging in
  • The center gore lies flat against your chest
  • You feel comfortable and supported all day

⚠️ Common Bra Mistakes to Avoid

  • Band too loose: Causes back pain and poor support
  • Cups too small: Leads to spillage and discomfort
  • Straps too tight: Causes shoulder pain and indentations
  • Wearing the same bra daily: Reduces elasticity faster — rotate between bras!
  • Not measuring regularly: Your size can change with weight, age, and hormones
